Founded in 2017 by award-winning Seattle-bred visual artist, Nate Steigenga, Scale Carpentry was born out of Nate’s love of Making Stuff. He grew up a compulsive sketcher, painter, and collage artist, eventually earning a BA from Central Washington University in Painting & Sculpture. Post graduation, his paintings were featured in Bellevue Arts Museum and Davidson Galleries.

After relocating to Los Angeles in 2016, Nate started exploring a different art form in furniture making. After years of honing his craft— and a mid-Pandemic transition to Joshua Tree, CA— he has become a premier cabinet maker in the High Desert. He also designs and builds bookshelves, built-ins, and vanities. Experimental by nature, Nate’s work meshes design and function to achieve an elevated, timeless simplicity.
